1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible
The Chevrolet Chevelle SS represented Chevrolet’s entry into the hot midsize muscle car battle. The Chevelle SS was the high performance version of Chevrolet’s Chevelle, and had its own line of engines and performance equipment. This entry level V8 packed 396 cid and was rated at 350 bhp. Optional on the 396 was a new cowl-induction hood, which had a rear facing flapper near the base of the windshield to feed air into the engine. The styling was new with a “vee” front end, functional hood pins, and five-spoke Rallye wheels.
