The Ford Fairlane became the king of the hill just in time for the redesigned 1955 model year, and with it arrived a new hardtop coupe designed to pull sales away from rival GM. It was dubbed the Fairlane Victoria and these cars remain popular today with their distinctive shapes, appealing style, dazzling colors and lavish chrome trim!
Safety became one of Ford's big selling points in 1956, and it was aimed directly at the interior. Standard features include the deep-center steering wheel, new door latches that kept the doors from springing open in a collision, stronger seat supports that kept the seat cushions in place and an updated rear view mirror that essentially prevented cracked glass from dispersing into the interior. Optional items included seat belts, sun visors and a padded dash.
