Bought new in 1968 from Frontier Chevrolet in Billings, MT, this car was a specific order from the factory in the configuration as presented at auction:  

 

  • Z-28 Package
  • DZ 302 V8
  • Muncie 4sp Manual Transmission
  • 12 Bolt Posi-traction Rearend
  • Factory lowered suspension
  • No Console
  • No Tachometer
  • Deluxe Interior with Hounds Tooth Upholstery
  • Hugger Orange
  • No Chrome Drip Rails, Wheel Well Trim or Quarter Panel Louvres

 

This configuration was common for Camaro owners seeking the thrill of road racing as opposed to driving fast in a straight line!  The car was enjoyed for approximately 20,000 miles then sold to the second owner, who enjoyed the car for another 40,000 miles.  Following a tragic motorcycle accident where the 2nd owner passed, the father took possession of the car and parked it in his garage for the next 35 years, unable to part with the car and the memories of his son.  Around 2010, the 3rd owner acquired the car and subjected it to an 8 year extensive restoration project, going to great length to rebuild it to stock specs.  

 

  • All Sheet Metal is original to the car
  • Factory DZ 302 Engine Rebuilt but not confirmed to be original to the car
  • Muncie 4 Speed and 12 Bold Posi-traction Rear-end believed to be original to the car
  • Camel Hump Angle Plug Heads
  • Dealer Installed Factory Headers to accommodate the angle plug heads
  • Factory Chambered Exhaust
  • Correct Hugger Orange color with correct proportioned white racing stripe
  • Rosewood Steering Wheel in Excellent Condition
  • Correct Interior and all body/door window moldings 
  • New correct weather stripping throughout
  • Partial Original Build Sheet is Present, but is unfortunately not legible

 

This car has been driven approx. 4000 miles since the restoration.  It is an exceptional 1969 Camaro Z28 and is an investment grade classic muscle car and/or an excellent addition to any collection.
