The Seller special ordered this 1978 International in July of 1977 from Durham Cadillac/Oldsmobile in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  Upon taking delivery in December of that same year, the owner then embarked on a 47 year adventure with the Scout taking him through the Rocky Mountain West from New Mexico to Arizona to Colorado to Utah to Nevada to Wyoming to Idaho to Montana. and more!  The car never failed him and the seller reports that “”I'm the only one who has ever driven this Scout" and we enjoyed it.

The list of features on the Scout include pretty much everything that could be ordered on the 1978 Model.  That list is as follows:

Air Conditioning

345 V8 Engine

Manual Transmission

Automatic Locking Hubs

Front Disc Brakes

Built-In-Roll Bar

Tilt Steering Wheel

Power Steering

10,000 lb. Warn Winch(Factory!

Swivel Captains Chairs

Scout Tailgate Camping Tent

The seller is proud to report…All of the above is still original to the car, including the Original Yellow Tailgate Camping Tent!  There are only 64,330 original miles showing on the odometer.  Most of those miles were put on the Scout in the 1980s and 1990s, with limited use and miles since the early 2000s.  Miles in the 2000s are to and from the Ski Hills around Santa Fe.

A restoration was completed 4-5 years ago to include body and interior restoration.  Any body issues were expertly repaired and metal was replaced where needed as opposed to problem areas being “bondo'd over”.  The seller reports the only real rust present in the car upon restoration was above the driver side rear wheel well, which was correctly repaired.  Please note the very straight body panels in the pictures.  While the car was originally Blue and White from the factory, the seller chose Maroon and White for personal preference.  All glass is original to the car including the windshield.

The 345 V8 and manual transmission are 100% original.  The seller states that “even the clutch is original to the Scout.  I've raced cars and know how to use a clutch correctly.”  The seller reports he drives it once a month for about 20 miles to keep everything running smoothly.  “A pull of the original manual choke, pumps on the gas pedal, turn the key and away she goes”.  The seller reports that, when the car has been sitting for a period of time, it will take some extra pumping and cranking for it to fire, but starts on immediate command after that.  The Scout was recently mechanically serviced.

The interior received a complete restoration with the exception of the dash pad.  New Carpet, upholstery, door panels, headliner, weather stripping, and curtains on the windows!  The seller does report a crack in the original dash.  The interior does present very well in colors to match the Burgundy exterior.  The roof is removable on this vehicle but has NEVER been taken off reports the Seller.

The Scout is riding on custom wheel and the seller reports there are less than 600 miles on the current tires.  Please note the original wheels AND the original hub caps come with the Scout.  Also the original yellow tent that hooks on the roof and the tailgate that also goes with the sale.

Upon closing, the seller indicates “I'm 80 years old.  I've enjoyed this car but it's time to move on from it.”  This Scout is perfect to add to any collection or to embark on a whole new set of Adventures!

Delivery of this Vehicle cannot take place until June 10th, 2024 due to the Seller being out of the Country.
