1949 Mercury Mystique

VIN:  9CM281327

This 1949 Mercury Mystique is a classic custom build with a chopped top, 350 Engine, Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Automatic Transmission, and independent front suspension.  The Steering has been converted to a new Flaming River rack and pinion setup and it has a Ford Rear End on a lowered suspension w/rear air shocks, and there are a set of Lake Pipes and Rear Wheel Skirts for the perfect look.

Customized Mercury coupes were cruising America’s boulevards long before the term “low rider” was even coined.  During the late 1950s and throughout the 1960s, legions of customizers removed excess chrome, “frenched” headlights and taillights, and filled body seams.  Bodies were sectioned and chopped for a sleek look.

Highlights of this car include:
Dual Mercury spotlights, shaved handles and Frenched in light buckets, recessed antenna, Front split bench and custom interior with a nostalgic clean look.  All new Auto-Meter gauges, under dash lights a new stereo and a working CB. 12 volt electric system, whitewall tires, front custom spinner look hub caps, full rear skirts and a few more subtle upgrades.  The car is wired and plumbed for Vintage Air and just needs the compressor.

This is an older restoration and the car has been was owned by an older couple for the last 42 years.  The car is very clean with no visible rust.  There are a few chips from over the years but nothing that would stop you from being the envy of most local shows.  This 1949 Merc is ready for a drive anywhere and looks great from every angle.
