HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR PHOTOS

Clean Your Vehicle

Before you take photos, make sure your vehicle is clean inside and out. If possible, give the car a thorough detail by washing the exterior and vacuuming and cleaning the interior.

Choose A Simple Background

Your vehicle should be the focus of every photo. Keep the background clutter-free. Outside near a wall or open space is best. Avoid people, other cars, and any other distractions like light poles, houses, etc.

HOW TO TAKE YOUR PHOTOS

Capture Horizontal Photos

We display auction photos in a standard 16x9 format. If you're using a smart phone, turn it sideways and hold horizontally when taking photos. If you're using a digital camera, hold in the standard position.

Leave Room Around The Edges

When taking photos of the whole vehicle, step back far enough to make sure that the entire vehicle is visible without getting cut off at the edges of the picture.

Start With The Lead Photo

The "lead photo" is an exterior picture, taken from a front 3/4 view, showing the entire vehicle. It's often used as the hero image for your lot listing.

THE PHOTOS YOU NEED

Exterior

Start from the front and work your way around the entire vehicle to showcase the whole exterior. Take exterior photos with the doors, hood, and trunk closed.

Interior

Open the doors and showcase the interior from both the driver and passenger side. Focus on cockpit, dashboard, and other features.

Engine

Pop the hood and photograph the entire engine and engine bay. If there are specific engine parts you want to highlight, get pictures of those too.

Details

Highlight rare or unique parts and features that make your car stand out. These could be upgrades, factory options, the underbody, emblems, etc.
